Mustard dates back thousands of years and there have been references to it in Greek and Roman literature. Native to the temperate parts of Europe, many parts of Asia and North Africa.

There are two types of mustard that are cultivated - brown and yellow. Both varieties are used in cooking. Yellow mustard is used for prepared or table mustard, a condiment, and as dry mustard. Dry mustard is frequently used as a seasoning in mayonnaise, salad dressings, and sauces. Brown mustard, largely popular in Asia, is used primarily as an integral spice or condiment in many of those cuisines.
